Download and install
Choose an installer on the download page. The page uses the files attached to actual releases. Do not construct a download URL by changing an installer name.
Choose a system and processor
| System | Processor | Installer |
|---|---|---|
| macOS | Apple silicon or Intel | DMG for the selected architecture |
| Windows | x64 | EXE installer |
| Linux | x64 or ARM64 | DEB or AppImage |
On macOS, check the chip in About This Mac. On Windows, check the processor architecture in system information. A Windows ARM64 computer is not a native x64 target. Use the platforms offered on the download page.
Install on macOS
- Download the DMG for your chip.
- Open the DMG.
- Drag Skills Hub to Applications.
- Open Skills Hub from Applications.
If macOS blocks the app, first confirm that the package came from the official release. Then follow the prompt in System Settings → Privacy & Security to allow it. Do not disable system-wide security checks. If you selected the wrong architecture, download the correct package.
The app is damaged or the developer cannot be verified
Gatekeeper checks downloaded apps when you first open them. Unsigned or unnotarized versions may be blocked, and the message varies by macOS version. A damaged-app warning can also mean the files are corrupted or have been modified. Download a fresh copy from the official download page or official GitHub release, then confirm its source and integrity before proceeding. See Apple's guidance for the warnings and System Settings steps.
- Drag Skills Hub to Applications, then try opening it once.
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security, find the message about Skills Hub, and choose Open Anyway.
- If the download quarantine attribute still blocks it, confirm that the app came from the official release, then open Terminal and run:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/Skills Hub.app"
Open Skills Hub again afterward. This command removes only the download quarantine attribute from this app and its contents. If you installed it elsewhere, replace the path with its actual location. It does not sign or notarize the app, or repair corrupted files. If it still cannot open, report the full message, macOS version, and installer name through official Issues.
Install on Windows
- Download the Windows x64 installer.
- Run it and complete the installation wizard.
- Open Skills Hub from the Start menu.
If Windows shows a source warning, check the download source before continuing. Windows currently supports global Skill distribution. Project distribution is not supported.
Install on Linux
The Linux desktop app and CLI require glibc 2.39 or later. Ubuntu 24.04 and compatible GNU/glibc distributions meet this baseline. These builds do not support Ubuntu 22.04, Debian 12, or Alpine/musl. AppImage has the same glibc requirement.
For DEB, open the downloaded package with your system's software installer. For AppImage, allow the file to run as a program in its file properties, then open it. Select x64 or ARM64 to match your CPU. If dependencies are missing, follow the package manager's dependency instructions.
First launch and upgrades
Check the detected tools before installing or importing Skills. Discovery does not automatically take ownership of your existing files. Review the candidates before you import them.
When an app update is available, open it from the title bar or Settings. Read the release notes and install the update. You can restart immediately or later. App updates, Skill content updates, and AI Management component updates are separate operations. See Update Skills.
Website collection installation requires v1.0.0 or later. Install or upgrade from the official download page. Opening the website does not add collection support to an older app.
