v0.11.0 Release Notes
Added
- Linux desktop installers: Linux x64 and ARM64 builds provide
.deband.AppImagepackages. Each release generates its bilingual download table from actual installer assets; signed updates preserve the installed Linux package format. - AI Skill management: Enable the official
manage-skills-hubSkill in Settings. Use AI conversations to search, install, import, update, deploy, tag, and safely remove Skills from the desktop's shared library. - Smaller installers and on-demand CLI: Production desktop installers no longer include the CLI. Enabling AI management downloads and verifies the matching version and configures the terminal command. Open a new terminal to use it. First setup requires a connection; verified installations work offline and after the desktop closes. Update the CLI and official Skill explicitly in Settings, with download progress and retry. Failures preserve the working CLI. CLI files share the desktop release; Node.js and npm are not required.
- Standalone CLI installer: Install or upgrade the CLI with one command on macOS, Linux, or Windows x64, with checksum verification and user-level PATH setup.
Improved
-
Focused desktop update notes: Download tables are generated only for the GitHub release page. Changelogs and updater notes contain version changes; desktop update dialogs also omit download sections from fetched release-page notes.
-
Release build reuse: Native validation and tests share one target directory. Signing reuses the verified release CLI instead of compiling it again; native CI and desktop jobs share per-platform release dependency caches while ordinary Rust CI keeps a separate debug cache; desktop packaging downloads only its matching CLI manifest. Native verification, signatures and draft publication gates remain enforced.
-
AI management guidance and Settings: A dismissible My Skills notice leads to the AI management card before the official Skill is installed. Installation details are collapsed by default; background checks retain the current status and View Skill action. Network and storage settings can also collapse while retaining summaries.
-
Default tool sync: AI installations sync to detected, enabled tools by default. Explicit tool choices, library-only requests, and project scope take precedence. Incomplete sync is reported separately.
-
Shared library refresh: Returning to the app, entering library or tag pages, or opening tag filters refreshes Skills and tags while preserving filters. AI changes appear without restarting.
Fixed
-
AI management updates and rollback: Same-version official Skill changes now offer an update. Enable repairs the managed official central copy directly, while preserving tool-target and path protections. Failed CLI replacement preserves the previous verified installation; switching between development and production restores the correct terminal command priority. Bridge operations explicitly unlock on completion to prevent child processes from briefly retaining the lock between fork and exec. CLI staging cannot publish an incomplete release. Linux packages declare the glibc 2.39 minimum and verify actual installation and package upgrade.
-
AI management recovery: Explain that draft releases cannot provide automatic CLI downloads, and show the installation failure alongside local CLI status. Keep terminal repair available with a PATH conflict, ignore inactive historical targets when determining readiness, and distinguish successful setup from a failed library refresh. Correct the official Skill guidance to require explicit updates.
-
Preserve generated release notes and download tables when CLI resources pre-create a shared draft.
-
Independent Linux ARM64 CLI: Release linking removes unused desktop-library dependencies. Linux CLI binaries are checked for GUI dependencies and started in a minimal Ubuntu container before publication.
-
Windows release validation: Run multiline release-test scripts from files to preserve shell quoting on Windows, and check these scripts in pull-request CI before packaging.
-
AI management after device sync: Device sync now records the local directory checksum instead of the portable sync checksum. Enabling or updating AI management safely repairs the old official Skill record when unchanged content matches its recorded sync checksum, while preserving genuine edits. CLI recovery instructions now point to Enable.
-
DeepSeek Harness custom home: Global deployment, discovery, and installation detection now honor
DSH_HOME, including blank-value fallback and current-user tilde expansion. Existing deployments can be safely unsynced from their recorded directory before redeploying to the new home; modified copies remain protected (fixes #166). -
Incremental Git installation: Reinstalling a repository updates same-source Skills, skips unchanged content, and installs new Skills while preserving settings and local edits. The picker distinguishes new Skills, update checks, and conflicts. Conflicting items are disabled without blocking other selections; long descriptions can be expanded.
-
Cline desktop support: Cline now uses
~/.cline/skillsfor global Skills and.cline/skillsfor project Skills, with installation detection through~/.cline. Cline is no longer incorrectly grouped with tools using.agents/skills. -
Windows AI management setup: Preparing the managed CLI can now replace its files while retaining protection against directory replacement.
-
Skill update sync: Tool detection and update destinations now use the same runtime home as deployment, so installed copies refresh correctly in isolated environments.
-
Shared tool directories: Deployment previews list all tools affected by a shared directory. One-click AI setup stops when it would affect tools outside the selected scope, without registering disabled tools as sync targets.
-
Ambiguous legacy sources: Checks and updates stop when an older multi-Skill record cannot be matched to a unique source, preserving installed content.
Usage notes
- Scope and safety: Compatible tools support project-level deployment on macOS and Linux; Windows supports global scope only. Destructive operations require confirmation. Conflicts, concurrent writes, and unsafe updates do not force overwrites. Deleted Skills remain recoverable through the desktop recycle bin.
- Desktop settings: Device sync, scheduled tasks, credentials, app settings, app updates, recycle-bin restoration, and permanent deletion remain desktop-only. The shared library remains compatible with v0.10.1.
Developer notes
- Local installation testing: New cross-platform local test build commands use the CLI prepared for the current build, development credentials, and CLI directories. Production packaging still requires a matching CLI manifest and provides guidance when it is missing. See local test builds.
- Shared data boundary: Development and local test builds share the production Skill library, settings, cache, recycle bin, and write lock. Operations affect real data and tool directories. Credentials and CLI files remain separate; previous development data is preserved without automatic merging.
